What is Inheritance Tax?
Inheritance tax in Scotland is a
tax on the estate (the property, money, and possessions) of someone who has passed
away. It's sometimes referred to as "IHT."
Arrangements must be made to
pay IHT from the estate. The amount payable will depend on the total value
of the assets. If the estate is under the current tax threshold, you still may
need to submit an IHT form.
In the next of our Ask the Expert
series, we give advice and guidance surrounding when IHT is payable.
Our IHT session will be held on 9
April 2024 by our local expert Fraser Symon.
